Bad Gastein is a beautiful spa town, built into a steep mountain side. It has a population of 5 thousand people. Often referred to as a ”Chamonix“ of Austria, the city became famous in the 19th century, when the royalty of Austria-Hungary were resting there. Today it is a modern ski resort with an active nightlife, while the summer attracts by the thermal waters, lakes and golf.
In the winter the Gastein ski area has some 250 km of piste that rise up to over 2,600 meters. Bad Gastein is particularly well suited for experienced skiers who like long vertical descents. Further down in the valley you will find plenty of family-friendly, tree-lined runs.
The 18-hole Gastein golf club lies at the foot of the town and is just in a few minutes away by car. This is one of the oldest and most traditional golf clubs in Austria but it is welcomed to new members and even beginners!
