The village, beautifully situated on a hill around 600m above sea level, was built in the 12th century, and due to its strategic position was used as a military outpost to defend the Dukedom of Spoleto’s lands against attacks from bandits. Both inside and out, the historic apartment block retains some of its original features, such as the exposed stonework on the external walls, the tiled roof, the porch with 12 octagonal columns originating from the 15th century.
