The house in Arminou is around a hundred years old, is south-facing and is built of local stone, some of which is rendered with whitewashed, inside and out. It is the upper end of the small village most of which it overlooks with good views beyond over the surrounding countryside. Access is by double gates from the narrow village street, serving just a handful of houses. The gates lead onto the paved courtyard with vine, traditional bread oven, shrubs and flowers. Except in mid-winter, meals are usually served here. The ground floor has a main doorway into the sitting room. Two large sofas and an armchair provide comfortable seating for winter use. The ceiling still has the original beams and shuttered window looks out onto the courtyard. From the sitting room there is access to the spacious bathroom with a bath-and-shower, washbasin and wc. There is also access to the kitchen with a modern sink and worktop, washing machine, fridge-freezer, and gas cooker. Ample cupboards provide storage space for crockery and kitchen equipment. There is an open fireplace for mid-winter evenings. The first floor is accessed by two stairways ndash; the internal one goes from beside the ground floor bathroom and serves a landing leading to two of the double bedrooms; the second is an external stone stairway from the courtyard which serves a landing the third double bedroom via its balcony. On the first floor there is a double bedroom with wardrobe and dressing table ndash; rustic double doors lead onto the roofed balcony. The floor is stone-flagged with rugs and the ceiling is wood paneled. A shuttered window overlooks the balcony. The second bedroom has similar ceiling and floor with its shuttered window overlooking the distant hillsides. It has twin beds and a large, old wardrobe with drawers. The third bedroom is accessed by a rustic double door from its roofed balcony; it has a wood-and-beam ceiling and a glazed-and-shuttered window overlooking the street; there is a traditional wall cupboard, twin beds and a chest of drawers; the stone-tiled floor has bedside rugs. There is also a barn which is attached to the rear of the house and it has its own access from the street via a small courtyard with orange and almond trees and also from a door off the first floor landing in the house. The latter leads, via a short stairway, down to the small chapel which can also be accessed from the barn's courtyard through the former wine-making area. The chapel has seating for up to eight residents and is very simple in design. Hot water is piped to the bathroom and kitchen from the solar water heater located on the roof. The price is negotiable.
