The village of Avgoru, located in the Ammochostos district (Famagusta), is part of a larger geographic area known as Kokkinohorja, which is famous for its agricultural products. Thanks to the mineral rich special red soil, you can grow delicious potatoes, fragrant vegetables and juicy citrus fruits.
The village has an ancient past, there are many interesting old buildings and historical churches, including the Church of the Apostle Peter and Paul and the monastery of Agios Kendeas. Other interesting features of the village of Avgorou: the Ethnographic museum, showing the daily life of peasants in the past and the annual Potato Festival in July, during which the cultivation of the most famous agricultural products of the village is celebrated.
