Nea Smyrni is the southern suburb of Athens, about 5 km south-west of the center of Athens, which stretches along the entire section of the Saronic Gulf of the Aegean Sea within the city limits.
The district consists mainly of residential areas with several business centers, in particular, on Singru Avenue. The Athens tram line, which crosses the entire area from south to north, connects the center of Athens with the sea shore and the city’s beaches. The journey from the central area of the district, both to the city center and to the sea, takes about fifteen minutes.
There are schools, lyceums, gymnasiums, banks, post offices and squares with a large number of high-class bars, cafes and shops in Nea Smyrni. Among the attractions stands the Agia Fotini cathedral temple.
