Kolonaki district is the most fashionable and aristocratic district of Athens. Here are all the most eminent stores and boutiques, expensive hotels and jewelry stores.
Kolonaki is one of the oldest districts of the capital. It received its name from a two-meter column, in ancient times used for the sacrifices to the gods as an altar. Such columns were found throughout the city, but it was Kolonaki who was associated by the inhabitants with the celebration of the Olympic deities.
The modern district of Kolonaki is located in the center of the city — on the southwestern slope of Lykavitos, from the University of Athens and practically all the way to Omonia.
