Hedvidek, XII district of the city, is the only one in Buda that has no access to the Danube. Hedvidek is located in the hills, most of the area is covered by forests and vineyards, which is why it is often called the ”lungs of Budapest“ or the local ”Hollywood Hills“. This is the area chosen for their residences by the President and Prime Minister, as well as other major political figures of Hungary.
Many international schools are concentrated in Hedvidek. In winter, the hills turn into skiing trails, and in the summer, locals enjoy picnicking, cycling, or the cable car that runs between the hills. From the highest point of the district and the entire city, Janoshegy Hill, located at an altitude of more than 520 meters above sea level, you can see the whole of Budapest at a glance.
