Cinque Terre vacation villa with pool and sea views – Perched on a hilltop commanding superb views over Levanto and the Ligurian Riviera, a few minutes’ walk from Levanto’s beach, market, tennis courts and restaurants, this superbly renovated period villa is also a short drive from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Le Cinque Terre and the famed Lovers’ Walk along this striking coastline.

Once a church, this superb property was turned into an elegant villa during the Belle Epoque era and used as a holiday home by wealthy Italian families. Original features can still be seen in the decorative marble pillars and terracotta floors, with the later addition of chandeliers, paintings and Italian period furniture. A splendid terrace offers unique panoramic vista across the villa's lush Mediterranean garden to the steep verdant hills beyond, plunging down to the sea. A lovely hiking trail passes by this property leading all the way to Monterosso al Mare, the first of Le Cinque Terre villages and the only one featuring a large beach and promenade with beach clubs and restaurants. Once here, you can step aboard a small ferry boat which will take you to Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Rio Maggiore. If you feel energetic, you can choose to explore these enchanting fishing villages on foot, by bicycle or even on horseback with the assistance of trained instructors. Buses and a picturesque coastal railway line are also available for quicker, effortless journeys.

Each of these villages has a unique, distinctive character well worth exploring. As well as splendid old churches, colourful little houses, baker shops selling the typical Ligurian focaccia bread and pansotti (fresh filled pasta parcels), you can dive in the purest crystal clear waters of this marine protected area and discover an amazing underwater sea life. Wine lovers will enjoy wine tours among the cultivated terraces, now part of Italy’s largest man-made National Park. Before you leave this beautiful region, make sure you try the local sciacchetra cheese, the DOC dry white wine, the anchovies from Monterosso, the extra-virgin olive oils, the pesto sauce and the delicious jams. No doubt you will want to take some away with you!
