Location and nearby infrastructure
Camogli is one of the most unique places in the entire Riviera: the ancient maritime Ligurian traditions have been preserved here for centuries. Camogli literally means the house (”Ka“) of wives (”mogli“), referring to all the wives of the sailors waiting at home for their husbands returning from the sea.
The village is located on the western side of Mount Portofino and is considered one of the most memorable villages in the entire Gulf of Tigullio. It has always been visited by famous artists, writers and nobles, such as Gabriele D'Annunzio, Queen Margaret, Princes of Savoy, Italo Balbo, Guglielmo Marconi, Friedrich Nietzsche, Kim Novak, Orson Welles and many other world famous people.
This village, thanks to its port (which is still used by fishermen today), is an example of the Italian architectural style.
The Fish Festival (Sagra del pesce) is held every year, is very relevant, it attracts the attention of people all over the world.
