A recent renovation and extension project by a renowned local architect has transformed this once simple Catalan farmhouse into a sophisticated, modern home without compromise. Traditional features combined with the use of natural, local materials, finished with a blend of modern and antique furnishings and creative use of colour make a wonderfully warm and welcoming family home. The large flat lawn and play equipment will keep children happily occupied whilst the adults keep a watchful eye from the terrace and possibly sample some well-known wines of the Banyuls-sur-Mer vineyards. The newly-built pool is set in a walled and gated area making it ideal for families with younger children. The real draw here must surely be the location; the foothills of the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean Sea are both just a short drive away. Within 5 minutes you can reach the shops and restaurants of Canet-en-Rousillon, and 5 minutes further its lovely harbour and the all-important golden sandy beach. Nearby Perpignan offers a vibrant café culture and Ceret has the stunning Pont du Diable bridge over Le Tech river. Prades is the gateway to the Parc Naturel Regional des Pyrenees Catalanes with extensive opportunities for hiking. Day trips into Spain or along the French coast to Beziers and Cap d’Agde, or to the medieval fortified town of Carcassonne are all possible, but with so much on offer locally, you may not want to stray too far afield.
