Tucked away in the midst of an an olive grove, behind thick dry stone walls and hedgerows to preserve its privacy, this newly renovated masseria lies just a few hundred yards from the centre of Putignano, a lively town near Alberobello, at the very heart of the land of trulli. Formerly a traditional farmhouse, Masseria San Davide has been converted into a splendid luxury villa for 8 people with all modern comforts, exquisitely decorated with classic simplicity and neutral colours, to enhance the original stone features. The internal courtyard has a delightful porch all along its perimeter which makes it the perfect spot in which to enjoy an evening aperitif with family and friends. A few steps down you enter the pool area; spend some time wandering around the beautiful manicured garden, discovering the hidden secrets of this Apulian oasis. Fancy some exercise? Under the pleasant shade of one of the pergolas you have a selection of gym equipment and, when it gets too hot, take a refreshing dip in the magnificent pool, just a few steps away. A gentle stroll takes you to Putignano for restaurants, shops, cafes, history and culture – common features of many Italian towns. Alberobello, a Unesco World Heritage Site, is just a few minutes' drive from your masseria, with a unique concentration of distinctive whitewashed trulli. Castellana Grotte is just down the road from your villa, a visit to these magnificent underground caves is highly recommended, especially on a particularly hot day. Every summer weekend, an air show takes place here, inspired by Dante's Inferno. The Dinosaur Park, the Astronomical Observatory and Indiana Park add further appeal to this place, especially for children. The Zoo Safari in Fasano is also close at hand and it is Italy's largest of such kind. Under half-an-hour's drive is the Adriatic coast, offering a variety of rocky and sandy beaches, to suit every taste.
