Rateče is a small Slovenian village at the crossroads of 3 European countries: Slovenia, Italy and Austria. The Italian border lies only 1 km from the beginning of the village and Austrian only couple of kilometres over the mountain pass next to Rateče.
Rateče is placed in the North-west part of Slovenia. It stands in the centre of the beautiful and sunny mountain area of Julian alps where most important championships in the alpine disciplines every year take place (ski jumps only 5 km away in Planica, ski world championships only 5 km away in Kranjska Gora). Ratece is a beautiful area of infinite possibilities for different sport activities in all seasons: hiking, cycling (over 100 km), cross-country skiing, skiing, sledding etc. Different Italian and Austrian ski areas are only from half hour to an hour away from Ratece.
