El Medano is located on the southeast coast of Tenerife, very close to the southern airport. The word ”médano“ is translated from Spanish as a sand dune. In this case, the sand was blown, it was compacted and formed rocks.
This coast is known for the longest sandy beaches in Tenerife, as well as crystal clear transparent water. Therefore, the beaches of El Medano and for many years already receive a blue flag for water quality and good service.
Once this resort was a small fishing village, then there appeared surfers and windsurfers, and then kitesurfers. Thanks to the wonderful climate and the Atlantic Passat, which creates conditions for skiing about 300 days a year, the city has gained worldwide fame as the Mecca of windsurfing in the Canaries.
People from different countries live here, who are united by a love of the wind. Tourists come here primarily for active and non-standard holidays.
