Languedoc village house with pool — Situated at the entrance of a tranquil village and just a five-minute drive from shops and restaurants in nearby St Laurent, Maison du Gard is a charming, traditional stone-built village house with lots of character, ideally positioned to explore Uzes, Avignon, the Aqueduct of Pont du Gard and other famous landmarks of both the Languedoc and Provence regions. Recently renovated and tastefully furnished in keeping with the local style, the accommodation of Maison du Gard is comfortably spread over three floors, with a spacious open plan living area on the first floor and a small, yet delightful walled garden featuring ornamental plants, elegant garden furniture and a lovely heated pool. Just opposite the house is the village green and square with a boules pitch and a table-tennis table. This area known as the Gard, borders Provence and the Languedoc and boasts a rich artistic and cultural heritage. Medieval Uzes, less than ten minutes' drive from Maison du Gard, offers visitors a lively atmosphere all-year-round, as well a picturesque castle, an impressive cathedral, a typical provencal weekly market, smart boutiques and an array of pavement cafes and high quality restaurants. The monumental aqueduct of Pont du Gard is a striking sight but kids may also want to visit the Haribo sweet factory nearby! A little further afield, other places of interest include the ancient Roman towns of Arles and Orange, the Gardon grottos and the beautiful towns of St Remy, and Avignon. Beaches are within day-trip distance; the Marina and old town of Aigues Mortes are just over an hour’s drive, whilst Montpellier and the golden sandy beaches of Sete are 1 hour 30 mins.
