Greece issued more than 1,600 digital nomad visas in the first year after launch

Last year Greece officially launched its visa for digital nomads. To obtain such a visa, a standard package of documents must be submitted, including a contract confirming remote work, as well as a certificate confirming a monthly income of at least 3,500 euro. So far, 1,693 visas have been issued to foreign nationals staying in Greece.
Also, according to Berlin-based recruitment platform WorkMotion, Athens is among the top 20 best cities in the world for remote workers. The study compared 85 cities and several factors: availability of a digital nomad visa, taxes, cost and affordability of housing, household spending, security and infrastructure. In total, Athens scored 86.4 points out of a possible 100. The city scored highest on the criteria of mobility and housing affordability.
