Who is Karon for?
Karon is a great destination for families looking to enjoy both the beach and nightlife without the hustle and bustle of Patong. While it is possible to find long-term housing options in Karon, it is important to note that the area is primarily geared towards tourism and lacks international schools and hospitals.

There are several places of interest in Karon, including the Karon Viewpoint observation deck, the Centara Grand Hotel, which is located in the northern part of Karon Beach, and the cosy Kata Noi Beach with restaurants offering panoramic views.
Property prices in Karon
Small apartments (approximately 30–35 sq. metres in size) make up the bulk of Karon’s property supply. Prices start at 150,000 US dollars. These units are popular with tourists as an alternative to hotels, and almost all are conveniently located within walking distance of the beach.
When purchasing an apartment during the early stages of construction, investors receive a 25–30% «discount» from the developer. This is due to the fact that prices tend to increase during the final stages of construction.
As usual, payment by instalments is available, with the developer typically offering a plan for the duration of the construction. In some cases, the developer may offer an instalment plan for up to 5 years to cover the remaining 50% of the payment.
An additional commission of around 5–7% will be charged in this case. However, it is sometimes possible to negotiate without a commission, especially for villas and during the low season.
