Real estate in center of Athens becomes attractive opportunity for foreign investors
According to Spitogatos, the largest property listing in Greece, real estate in the country’s capital is becoming more popular among foreign buyers. Properties in central Athens are demanded by 5 out of 10 foreign nationals that take the greatest interest in the Greek market. Greek real estate agents working with foreign clients have confirmed the trend.
In the first half of the year, buyers from the UK, Romania, the Netherlands, Australia and Cyprus primarily chose the central areas of the Greek capital searching for residential properties. Previously, the Cyclade Islands were the main place to buy property by the British as well as the French.
The reason for this is that the Greek real estate market has become an investment destination and it is no longer limited to the purchase of vacation homes by the sea. This trend is developing due to property tax reduction, tourism growth and improvement of the investment climate in the country.
