Expat real purchases in Spain grew by 41% in the second half of 2021 compared to the previous year.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions ease, the number of  Spanish properties being bought by expats is on the rise. This increase was observed in each of the Autonomous Communities of Spain, but larger increases occurred in Cantabria, Valencia, the Balearic Islands, Andalusia and the Canary Islands. The smallest growth was in Castile and León and Galicia.

During the period from July to December last year, almost 64,000 Spanish properties were purchased by non-Spanish people. Transactions made by foreign real estate buyers accounted for more than 18% of total sales.
