According to a study by Berlin-based recruitment platform WorkMotion, Barcelona topped the list of 85 cities as the best city for remote professionals. Dubai ranked second, ahead of Prague and Madrid (third and fourth place, respectively).

The study compared employment and living conditions during short-term stays in the city (no more than a year):

  1. availability of remote working visas;
  2. taxes;
  3. cost and housing affordability;
  4. household expenses;
  5. safety and infrastructure.

In total, Barcelona scored 100 points out of a possible 100. Dubai scored 99.9 points and Madrid reached 99.3. Barcelona and Madrid scored the highest points for mobility and healthcare criteria. As for Dubai, it became the city with the most comfortable taxes for remote workers.
