Henley & Partners revealed the world's strongest passports in 2024
Henley & Partners updated the World Passport Index by the beginning of Q1 2024, drawing on insights from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The top 10 of the list is led mostly by European nations. Six countries shared the first place in the ranking in terms of the number of destinations for travelling without visas, which was a record: four EU countries — Germany, Italy, Spain and France, as well as two Asian states — Singapore and Japan. Their citizens are entitled to visa-free travel to 194 destinations out of a possible 227.
The leaders are followed by South Korea, Finland and Sweden, providing visa-free access to 193 countries without visas, while Austria, Denmark, Ireland and the Netherlands are in third place with 192 countries available.
In its research, Henley & Partners looks at the link between a country’s economic opportunities and travel without visa restrictions.
