Spain launches new requirements for foreign employees and entrepreneurs

The Spanish government has published additional guidance on document requirements for candidates applying for a long-term visa, an employment permit or a business permit.
The new rules relate to the education and qualifications of an applicant. The authorities have confirmed that foreign nationals working in regulated professions (e.g. doctor, lawyer, dentist, etc.) applying for a visa or work permit have to verify their academic degree. Employees with professional training courses may also be required by the authorities to verify qualification. These are general requirements for regulated professions in Spain, but guidance on the specific type of work permit or visa has not previously been published.
With regard to entrepreneurial work, the Spanish National Agency of Innovation (ENISA), will prepare a report for the authorities for each entrepreneur.
