The Economist: ranking of countries by economic performance in 2022
The Economist experts analysed the economies of the richest countries, taking into account data on financial and economic factors which include GDP, stock market performance, inflation and public net debt. The analysis revealed some unexpected results.
Greece became one of the economically successful countries for the first time and ranked first. The country’s GDP increased by more than 2% from the fourth quarter of 2021 to the third quarter of 2022. The country also leads in reducing its public net debt.
Spain is another country in the Mediterranean region with good results. GDP grew by 1.5% and consumer prices fell by 2.9% over the year.
Germany and Estonia are low-ranked in the list. Germany’s GDP grew by 1.3% from the fourth quarter of 2021 to the third quarter of 2022. Estonia’s GDP declined by 3.1% over the same period.
