Tranio in 2017: foreign customers and new projects

In 2016 we set ourselves several goals for the company to achieve in the next few years: to become the largest company in the global real estate market, to offer a wider variety of investment instruments, and to be a one-stop broker for property transactions. In the past year, we’ve taken several steps towards achieving these objectives.

Growth in website traffic and sales

The Tranio website has grown in popularity. Over 2 million people visited the website in 2017 – twice more than in 2016.

"In 2015 traffic of our English website got 9,000 visitors per month. Now both Russian and English websites get 3,000 to 4,000 visitors a day. On average, our website is visited by 7,500 to 8,000 people daily and 98% of visitors during the year were unique", Tranio web content editor Nadezhda Burynda says.

Growth in sales, increase in foreign customers

The company’s revenue grew by 18% in the past year. Tranio has catered to overseas buyers since 2015, and their share of overall sales has been growing. In 2017, 26% of all our transactions involved foreign clients. In particular, we closed several large transactions involving commercial real estate in Germany to nationals of Pakistan, Turkey and South Africa in 2017.

Mass media coverage

In 2017 Tranio was mentioned or referred to 290 times by global media including Bloomberg, Huffington Post, the Guardian and the Sunday Times.

"As for the Russian media, 138 articles by Tranio were published in the second half of 2017. Our company is mentioned by leading mass media and news websites in Russia, including Kommersant, RBC, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, Forbes and Lenta.ru", Tranio PR Manager Julia Pakhomova says.

According to media monitoring company Medialogy, Tranio was the most cited company in the area of foreign real estate in the Russian media in 2017.

We also conducted two large surveys on how the behaviour of Russian-speaking real estate investors and owners of foreign bank accounts changed in 2017.

Launch of development projects

In late 2016 we launched our first development project in Barcelona, and followed this with another in autumn 2017, which is a residential complex comprising 22 flats, 25 parking lots and commercial spaces.

The company also announced plans to carry out construction projects in Athens. Our project in Greece was mentioned 89 times in the media in countries including Albania, Greece, Israel, China, Poland, Slovakia, Turkey and the Czech Republic. Among global media which covered the project were Bloomberg, the Business Times Singapore, Ekathimerini, Huffington Post Greece, The Moscow Times, The National Herald, the Real Deal and Tornos News.

Website improvement

We updated the design of our website and improved the advertising section to enable our customers to create property listings. We also enabled geotagging of property locations by their addresses and made searching for real estate more user-friendly.

In addition, we created a fully mobile version of the website in Russian and English. According to Ms Burynda, almost half of Tranio website visitors accessed it from their smartphones and tablet computers since the launch of the mobile version.

Objectives for 2018

In 2018 we will be focusing on:

  • Launching development projects in Greece and Germany.
  • Developing an application for online investing in German real estate.
  • Developing a system that would allow Tranio customers to create a personal account on the Tranio website that can be used to contact our foreign partners.
  • Launching Turkish and Chinese versions of the website (in addition to growing our Russian, English, Spanish, German and Persian versions).
