2015 in review: 15% more sales

We closed 15% more sales and leases abroad in 2015 than in 2014. Not only that, we sold five times more commercial property and saw lead conversions from our website requests increase 25%. 2015 also marked our first sales in new country markets. Furthermore, we kicked off cooperation with our clients in Iran, launched new overseas offices and expanded Tranio’s partner network.

New markets: top countries and commercial property sales

We closed 200 sales and leases in 23 countries around the world last year — that’s 15% more than in 2014. In terms of country popularity, Spain is still our clients’ favourite destination, attracting one-third (36%) of all transactions. At the same time, we doubled our sales activity in Germany and Hungary.

This strong performance is hardwired into the achievements of Tranio's managers: they were active participants in real estate seminars throughout the year. Sales were also driven by the better internal operations and our partners’ activity.

Demand underwent material changes for Tranio in 2015. After the ruble devaluation in late 2014, Russian-speaking clients became less interested in holiday homes and personal dwellings. Instead, they turned their interest towards commercial real estate. Transactions for income-generating property were five times higher year-on-year by the close of 2015, distinguishing this niche as a focal point for our future efforts.

Before, Russian-speaking clients used to buy second homes, but now they see commercial property and investments as the best way to preserve their capital in the volatile environment.

Tranio managers closed their first transactions in promising locations like Austria (six sales), Lithuania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Portugal, the USA, Croatia and Switzerland in 2015. We have already started to cooperate with clients from Iran and received about 300 requests from clients in the UK, Germany, Spain, China, Serbia, the USA, France and other countries.

Partners: network expansion and launch of the new foreign offices

We activated 100 new partners but we still have room for new opportunities with reliable companies. Our partnership manager has been actively improving our Partnership Program and last year, we opened offices in Alicante and Torrevieja on Spain’s Costa Blanca. We also opened an office in Freiburg, Germany. Plans are in the pipeline to open more European locations shortly.

Editorial & PR: unique articles referenced by major global media

In 2015, hard work by our Editorial and PR teams turned Tranio’s website into an authoritative source of exclusive information valuable to clients and major media, both Russian and international. Our experts publish about 40 quality unique articles in Russian and English every month, underpinned by extensive research provided by our data analysis experts. Most recently, we published the Russian Overseas Commercial Property Buyer Report 2015, the fifth annual analytical research of its kind.

Our articles have been published and referenced by The Express and The Independent as well as Inman, The Move Channel, RBC, Vedomosti, Kommersant, the Moscow Times and many more. Our website was named “one of the most cited real estate and construction media” by the company Medialogia.

Website promotion: 93% new visitors to Tranio.com

In 2015, we launched and promoted the English version of our website. The total traffic the traffic on tranio.com increased from 150 to 9,000 unique visitors per month, with the share of new visitors totalling 93%. 1.23 million people viewed the Russian website over the year.

Events: participation in large Russian and global exhibitions

We took part in 20 large exhibitions held in Russia and abroad in 2015, including Expo Real in Munich, Moscow International Property Show and Domexpo in Moscow and All-Russia Housing Congress in Saint Petersburg.

Our experts spoke at the Adam Smith Conferences in London and held seminars on overseas real estate purchase and maintenance in partnership with EY, Alfa Bank and other major foreign real estate market players.

Property catalogue: quality over quantity

We posted and edited about 8,000 sales and lease listings in over 20 countries. The result was a more effective and user-friendly catalogue in Russian and English with relevant, updated and interesting offers for residential and commercial properties abroad. The first print version of our catalogue featuring the best global properties was issued in the spring.

We will be actively pursuing two target channels in 2016. First, we will be developing the English version of our website and broaden our client horizons, not just targeting the Russian market. We also aim to increase our commercial property sales. We are currently developing software for our clients and staff to ensure strong performance in both of these directions. We will be also updating our website design and launching special projects to engage a larger visitor pool and achieve more lead conversions this year.
