Apartment purchases in Thailand by foreign nationals in the first half of 2023 increased by 66%, according to the latest data from the Government Housing Bank (GHB) of Thailand. Chinese, Russian, US, French, French and British nationals are among the top five in terms of transactions.

During H1 2023, the Chinese remained in 21st place among foreigners in buying apartments in Thailand.

The preferences of different nationals vary by types of property. Clients from Great Britain and Germany chose spacious apartments: 56-59 square metres on average, while the average metre of Chinese and Russians buyers is 39 and 43 sq. m respectively.

The tourist flow in Phuket is recovering. Forecasts 2023 for tourist arrivals from abroad show 25-30 million people (80% of the peak values in 2018-2019). Some tourist flows have already surpassed pre-recession figures.
