The tourism sector looks forward to winter visits to Cyprus
According to the Paphos branch of the Hoteliers' Association, October was the most promising month for tourism this year due to hotels having the highest occupancy rate, with an overall increase of around 20 percent.
The first days of November also look hopeful, according to Euripides Loisides, secretary of the Paphos hoteliers' organization (Pasyxe), as reported in Cyprus Mail.
Airport operator Hermes announced that October was the best month this year in terms of passenger traffic, including tourist arrivals. The report said that compared with 867,097 passengers registered in August which usually has the highest increase of tourist visits, last month the number of arrivals and departures was 951,820 (619,501 at Larnaca airport and 332,319 in Paphos).
The government initiative is the expansion of the domestic tourism incentive scheme which covers 25 % of the total cost of hotel accommodation for vaccinated local residents at the tourism establishments that have been registered under the plan with the Deputy Ministry of Tourism. The government announced that the renewed scheme will be valid until March 31, 2022.
