UAE ranked 15th in Global Passport Index of Q3 2022
The UAE was ranked 15th in the global Passport Index of Q3 2022 estimated by Henley & Partners. The country’s passport provides visa-free and visa-on-arrival entry to 176 countries around the world.
Japan’s passport took the leading position with a record number of 193 visa-free destinations. The Singaporean and South Korean passports became second-best national IDs ensuring 192 visa-free entries, followed by the German and Spanish passports both providing 190 visa-free entries.
Over the last decade, the UAE has shown significant growth in passport strength. In 2012, the country occupied 64th position in the Passport Index with visa-free entry to just 106 territories around the world.
The Emirates ID has become an attractive option for wealthy foreigners. The last Henley & Partners research shows that by the end of this year, 4,000 wealthy individuals are expected to move in the country. It means a sharp growth of 208% compared to the immigration of 1,300 millionaires in 2019.
Dr. Robert Mogelnitsky, Member of the Arab Gulf States Institute and the Advisory Committee of Henley & Partners, noticed the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) tries to implement measures aimed at attracting foreign skilled professionals as well as wealthy individuals.
The Henley Passport Index is based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) covering over 200 countries and territories.
