UAE Residence Visa stamping procedure in 2024

In May 2022, Federal Authority For Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) announced it would unify residence visa and Emirates ID applications. Previously, the two applications were processed separately, and foreign nationals were required to undergo a stamping procedure for their visa.

In 2024 the Emirates ID replaces the visa sticker in residents’ passports.

The pink-coloured residency sticker continues to be available virtually via the ICP app.

To apply for a new visa and Emirates ID, use a single application by visiting the ICP website or via the official ICP mobile app, «UAEICP», available for both iOS and Android.

Documents required for residency visa application:

  • Colour copy of your passport information page(s).
  • Colour copy of a passport size photo.
  • Medical Examination Results: Issued by a DHA-approved health centre, confirming your fitness for residency.
  • Employment Contract or Offer Letter.
  • Proof of Accommodation.
  • Notarized education certificate if requested.
  • Previous Emirates ID Copy/cancellation document, if applicable
  • Visa application form.

Although the stamping procedure is no longer in use, the pink-coloured residence sticker still exists in virtual form in the ICP app. If a hard copy is required, it can be printed using the form on the ICP website.
