Property prices in Hungary in 2024
Hungary is popular among property investors for a number of reasons, including its mild climate, amazing landscapes, numerous health resorts and relatively cheap property. According to Eurostat, from Q1 2010 to Q3 2019, property prices in Hungary increased by 69%.
Budapest is a resort city and one of Eastern Europe’s cultural centres. Local property prices are significantly lower compared to other European cities. Budapest, the prices costs €2,800/m² on average, which is several times cheaper than in London or Paris. Property in the historical center of the city (V, VI, VII districts), residential areas with developed infrastructure (XII, XIII, XIV districts), as well as in areas with a predominance of houses (II and III districts) traditionally attract the most foreign buyers.
Residential properties in most Hungarian regions are cheaper than in the capital, apart from the popular resorts of Balatonfüred, Debrecen, Tapolca, Hévíz and Eger (Table 1).
Castles are also on sale in Hungary. Prices range from several hundred thousand euro to several million euro. The cost will also depend on the location and condition of the property.
