Taxes in Slovenia

Buyers of Slovenian property pay a 2% purchase tax and a registration tax ranging from 0.01% to 0.50%. The annual property tax rate ranges between 0.1% and 1.0%.

Individuals pay a 25% tax on rental income. The capital gain tax rate is 25%.

To transfer the propery title to one's children or spouse is exempt from the gift and inheritance tax. The transfer of property title to one's parents, siblings and their children is taxed at 5-14%. When the property title is transferred to one's grandparents, a tax rate ranging between 8% and 17% applies. In all other cases, it ranges between 12% and 39%. The tax base usually equals 80% of the property's market value.
