How to get Residence Visa in UAE without job in 2024
Updated on
Obtaining a residence visa in the UAE without a job can be challenging, as the majority of visas are tied to employment or education. Nevertheless, there are alternative ways to get a residence visa in UAE:
- Investor Visa: If one has the financial means, they might consider applying for an investor visa. This typically requires a substantial investment in a UAE-based business or property. The specific requirements and minimum investment thresholds can vary, e.g. to get a two-year residency visa, an investor has to buy a property in Dubai worth $205,000 or more. This visa can be repeatedly renewed every three years. The investor can also apply for visas for his family.
- Property ownership: Purchasing property in the UAE may also make one eligible for a residence visa. Buyers of real estate worth 2 million dirhams (approximately $545,000) or more are eligible for a renewable 10 year residency. The property must be owned for at least three years if the investor plans to extend his/her residency visa.
- Retirement Visa: The UAE has introduced retirement visas in recent years. This allows retirees to stay in the country provided they meet certain age and financial criteria.
- Family sponsorship: If one has a family member who is a UAE resident, they may sponsor your residence visa. This often applies to spouses, sons under 18 years old, daughters of any age, if not married, and the resident’s parents. The sponsoring individual should meet specific criteria, including a minimum income level of at least $1,090 a month for male sponsors and $2,722 for female sponsors.
- Setting up a business: If you plan to start a business in the UAE, you may be eligible for a business owner visa. This involves establishing a legal entity with authorised capital of 500,000 dirhams or more.
- You can check whether an applicant for a resident visa meets the requirements of a particular programme on the official website of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs.
