PROPERTY AND LOCATION Magnificent historic palazzo for sale in a breathtaking location on the Marmore Falls. The property for sale is located in Terni, Umbria, not far from one of the highest and most fascinating waterfalls in Europe. INTERIOR In one wing, on the west side, there is a small chapel, in which liturgies were celebrated on special family occasions until a few years ago. Inside, a large staircase connects two large floors with vaulted rooms. The flat for sale covers 600 m² and consists of 12 rooms. EXTERIOR On the main façade is a large arch with an Androne towards the Portone. On either side of the Androne are two large rooms, Gabelle, used at that time to collect duties and give an initial welcome to travellers. All this took place outside the gate in order to ensure security inside. The gate had loopholes on the sides to assess who was coming and an upper trapdoor to deter those who were intent on attacking. Cellars and caves for food reserves dug into the rock surround the large rooms. Around the Church of Madonna della Pietà there is much evidence of the entire diocesan community: over time it was visited by numerous high prelates and there is also evidence of alleged frescoes now concealed by later paintings. The building was built by the Monte di Pietà, as reported by an inscription above the main entrance, and was probably used for many years as a convent and shelter for wayfarers.
