The small village of Deryneia is located on a hilltop, near the demarcation line separating Cyprus from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. This is the last village of the east coast.
Deryneia is directly related to the cultivation of strawberries — 55 years ago it was here that the first commercial strawberry plantation appeared, and the village still holds the first place in Cyprus in the cultivation and production of strawberries, both in quantity and quality.
