Salamanca is the most luxurious, prestigious and fashionable area of Madrid, where beautiful residential development is combined with expensive shopping streets. Throughout the history of the region, which begins in the second half of the 19th century, the wealthiest families settled in Salamanca.
The founder of the area is the Marquis José de Salamanca. The area grew around his palace on Paseo de Recoletos, built in 1858.
Being one of the most famous areas of Madrid, Salamanca now represents part of the city with the most expensive real estate. There is residential, commercial and business development. Residential buildings mainly in 6 – 8 floors are distinguished by elegant architecture. There are embassies, offices of international corporations, as well as a lot of expensive restaurants, cafes, shops, shopping centers and boutiques.
