Apartments for sale in Spain and Spanish flat prices: wide selection of affordable property
Spain is one of the most popular destinations among overseas real estate buyers for its warm climate, affordable property and right to permanent residency for real estate over €500,000. Apartments for sale in Spain are the most sought-after properties by buyers.
The typical foreign property buyer will choose a house from €100,000 within walking distance of the sea. Spanish apartment for sale prices start at €30,000–40,000 for a studio while spacious six- or seven-bedroom flats overlooking the sea can cost millions of euros. The average price per square meter in buy and sell deals in June 2014 was about €1,600 across the nation, €1,240 in Torrevieja, €2,000 in Marbella and about €3,200 in Barcelona. Investors looking to buy a flat in Spain at a cheaper price should consider the Costa Blanca over Costa Daurada and Costa Brava.
Spanish apartments lost 35% of their value between 2006 and late 2012 with the price per square metre dropping from €2,892 to €1,891. Flat prices continued to fall during 2013 making it a good year to buy property. However, despite the year-on-year decrease of 8.3%, buyers are now returning to the property market and prices are expected to rise over the next 2–3 years.
