Gerani is a small seaside village located 13 km west of Chania, between Maleme and Platanias, in a green valley, among olive groves and citrus trees. One very important characteristic of the village is the small river that crosses the village and flows into the sea. The word ”Gerani“ comes from the way the locals pumped water from this river 500 years ago. It is believed that Gerani was part of the ancient city of Kidonia.
